HISTORY

Lipic’s is a fifth generation, family-owned company getting its start in 1863.

Lipic’s Inc. began in 1863, in a one-room shop in downtown St. Louis where George L. Berg began making fine gold points for wooden pen holders before the invention of the fountain pen. Early in the 20th century, the invention of a pen filled with an eye dropper that could write for as long as a week revolutionized pen design and manufacture. Joseph Lipic, Sr., who married George’s daughter and changed the company’s name to his own, patented one of the first self-filling fountain pens in 1912. Originally known as Lipic’s Radium Point Pen, its method of filling is the one in general use today. The Radium Point was sold to druggists, jewelers and stationers within a 100-mile radius of St. Louis and was the basis for the Joseph Lipic Pen Company. Extensive demand in the United States and Mexico created rapid expansion, and Lipic’s became known as The Pen House of St. Louis.

From the time that George was teaching Joseph the skill of making fine writing points for pens, our family has been perfecting the art of creating customized solutions for each and every client. George and Joseph knew that the only way to keep customers satisfied was to use the finest materials — gold and iridium — and apply the best hand craftsmanship.

Over 150 years since, we continue the tradition of using only the finest products available and applying craftsmanship in the details that will ensure success. While we’ve always been intrigued with the why of a solution, it wasn’t until 2012 that we really dove deep into why companies buy products or services. More often than not, the answer went back to some kind of employee engagement. And Lipic’s Engagement was born.

Our name might have changed, but our drive and our mission have not. To make your organization an attractive investment to its stake holders, create an Engaged Culture by measuring, communicating, educating and recognizing your employees through their employee life cycle utilizing our tools.

We look forward to another 150 years helping our clients engage their biggest asset: their employees.

FAQ

Q. What is employee engagement?

A. Employee engagement is the extent to which employees feel passionate about their jobs, are committed to the organization, and put discretionary effort into their work. While this may sound complicated, we’ve simplified the concept for you. Give us a call, and we’d be happy to walk you through the process.

Q. Why do I need to worry about employee engagement?

A. Thirty years ago, companies weren’t concerned about employee engagement, but more and more employees are leaving good companies due to their lack of engagement now. While you may not think it will make a difference in your organization, the results may surprise you.

Q. What is the best way to get started with my engagement plan?

A. Just give us a call to get the ball rolling. We can meet at your convenience in your office or ours. We’ll ask you lots of questions, but don’t worry. That’s how our process works. The more we know about your organization and the struggles you deal with every day, the better we can help you.

Q. Can I customize my engagement solutions or is everything a standard program?

A. One of the things that makes Lipic’s stand out from the rest is that everything we do is custom. We don’t believe in the cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all style of engagement. Every organization is different, and we build our engagement strategies around what works the best for you.

Q. What tools do you use? And can I still buy promotional products from you?

A. We have a variety of tools in our arsenal, and yes, promotional products is still one of them. But, at Lipic’s we are so much more than just product providers. We help with recruitment, onboarding, training, team building, achievement, safety, wellness, appreciation, service awards, surveys, and retirement/transition. We use a variety of products and services, including, but not limited to: portal software, surveys, promotional products, incentive awards, web stores, apparel, creative direction, and consulting.

Q. What should I expect from Lipic’s?

A. Lipic’s is a full-service engagement provider. We will work with you to determine areas for improvement, suggest solutions and ideas to accomplish your critical objectives, and provide the resources necessary for a successful engagement initiative.
